About Joan of Art
Welcome!
Welcome to Joan of Art—a little shop born out of faith, creativity, and the gentle nudge of community.
It all began in March 2024, at a women’s Lenten retreat where I hosted my very first pop-up sale. I brought along a few handmade t-shirts I designed using my Cricut, along with some crocheted and sewn toys I’d made. The response from friends and fellow retreat-goers was overwhelming—they loved the faith-based designs and the heartfelt care behind each piece. Their encouragement planted the seed that would soon grow into something more.
The Church Corner That Started It All
As a Director of Religious Education (DRE), one of my tasks was to create a children’s corner in our parish—something to help the littlest ones stay engaged during Mass. While browsing online for “Mass bags,” I found myself thinking, “I could make that… and for less.” That’s how my very first crocheted Jesus and saint dolls came to life.
What started as a few dolls quickly turned into felt toys, quiet books, and handcrafted bags to carry them all. I wanted the bags to be as eye-catching and joyful as the toys inside, which led me to discover the world of iron-on vinyl and Cricut designs.
Soon, I was making custom t-shirts and sweatshirts for friends who couldn’t find exactly what they wanted online. Whether it was a reimagined design or something totally new, I loved bringing their ideas to life!
A Name with Purpose
Between parishioners asking to buy toys from the Mass bags and friends requesting more custom designs, Joan of Art was born. The name is inspired by St. Joan of Arc, a woman of fierce conviction, courage, and deep trust in God. Her strength motivates me, and her story reminds me to be brave in sharing the faith—through crafts, creativity, and community.
Here at Joan of Art, I lead a little army of handmade goods into the world—to fight for joy, beauty, and Jesus. Whether you’re here for a saint doll, a faith-inspired tee, or something special for your child’s Mass bag, I hope you find something that speaks to your heart.
Thanks for stopping by. Let's make something holy together. ✨
